The Tucson Citizen Reports SSA Rejects 64% of Initial Disability Claims

U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., blasts the Social Security Administration for rejecting 64% of initial disability claims, then delaying payment while claimants are subjected to lengthy appeals. Giffords noted that claimants are often confronted by “bureaucratic red tape” and a “culture of denial.” Some Arizonans have faced mortgage foreclosure and vehicle repossession while struggling through the appeals process, Giffords said.
The culture of private disability insurance claims is no different. Individual claimants are forced to maneuver endless adversarial hoops in order to obtain the benefits that they rightly deserve. When confronted with a disability, and the prospect of filing a claim, the first course of action should be to retain an attorney experienced in this industry and area of the law. Ed Comitz is nationally recognized for his experience in disability insurance cases, and regularly handles disability cases in Tucson.
